Role Description
- This is a full-time (2 Mornings, 2 Nights, 2 days off) on-site role for an Accounts Officer located in Lagos.
- The Accounts Officer is responsible for managing daily financial and accounting tasks to ensure accurate record-keeping, timely processing of financial transactions, and compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations.
- The role supports the accounts department in maintaining financial integrity and providing accurate information for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate billing for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and specialist services.
- Ensure compliance with insurance policies, health schemes, and regulatory requirements.
- Collect patient payments (cash, card, online transfer).
- Process payments to suppliers for medical consumables, pharmaceuticals, equipment, and services.
- Work with pharmacy and stores to track stock purchases, consumption, and valuation.
- Monitor the accounting of drugs, medical supplies, and ward consumables.
- Assist with payroll input, especially for shift allowances, locum staff, and overtime.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for hospital management.
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries for hospital operations.
- Support internal and external audits, including compliance with health regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience; hospital or healthcare finance experience is highly preferred.
- High numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, insurers, and clinical staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in accounting software and hospital information systems, such as: EMR
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint).
