💡 Opportunity Summary

  • Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and promptly report on the condition of the vehicle at the end of each trip.
  • Ability to read and write in simple English language, perform simple mathematical calculations and must have the mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs, etc.
  • Excellent driving skills and road sense with knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems and road safety rules and regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • The driver will drive the organizational vehicle assigned to support organization operations under the Local Rights Programme.
  • Transporting staff members and products to and from designated destinations.
  • Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and promptly report on the condition of the vehicle at the end of each trip.
  • Regularly washing and cleaning the vehicle.
  • Conducting timely vehicle maintenance checks.
  • Prompt reporting to the organization of any accidents or vehicle damage
  • Ensuring the safety of staff members and goods during the journey.
  • Maintaining all records including those of vehicle maintenance receipts.
  • Any other duty assigned

Qualification: Minimum Requirements

  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s License
  • Education: SSCE certificate or equivalent
  • Experience: 1 year minimum experience in long-distance driving particularly in Jigawa state
  • Languages: Fluency in Hausa, at least basic understanding, speaking and writing in English

Skills and Competencies

  • Applicant must have good knowledge of Jigawa road network.
  • Ability to read and write in simple English language, perform simple mathematical calculations and must have the mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs, etc
  • Knowledge of and basic mechanical skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent driving skills and road sense with knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems and road safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends.
