Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated Field Supervisors to support our Junior Agronomists and ensure the smooth execution of all field operations. The Field Supervisor will oversee daily farm activities, coordinate field workers, and implement agronomic plans as guided by the Junior Agronomist. The role requires hands-on farm supervision, task coordination, and monitoring field operations to ensure high productivity and adherence to best agricultural practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily farm activities, ensuring tasks are executed as planned.
- Monitor and report on land preparation, planting, weeding, and harvesting.
- Oversee the proper application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other farm inputs.
- Coordinate field operations, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient task execution.
- Assign daily tasks to farm workers, tractor operators, and equipment handlers as agreed within the Agri-Team
- Ensure farm workers follow agronomic guidelines provided by the Junior Agronomist.
- Provide basic training and guidance to farm workers on best farming practices.
- Enforce health and safety regulations among field workers.
- Ensure all farm activities comply with environmental and agronomic best practices.
- Address any field-related challenges, escalating serious concerns to the Junior Agronomist or Farm Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in farm supervision or agricultural operations.
- Experience working with cassava or similar crops is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of field operations, land preparation, and farm labour management.
- Excellent leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Must be physically fit to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license is an added advantage.
Working Conditions
- Role is field-based, requiring regular exposure to heat, rain, and other weather conditions.
- Frequent walking, standing, and lifting in a fast-paced farming environment.
- Requires flexibility and adaptability to respond to real-time farm challenges.
