Here, you will make an impact by:- Supporting and executing a series of high priority product improvement projects to deliver our brand promise of innovation and strong reliability to our Commercial Branding & Transportation film customers. This role will focus on developing and maintaining our portfolio of casting and release liners for our film products.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including product development, manufacturing, quality, and corporate research teams to drive robust qualification of new products, manage changes in current products, and drive continuous improvement.
- Executing competitive testing, test method validation, failure analysis, predictive failure/analysis, product durability, design reviews, product field claims and investigations, and other duties as necessary.
- Supporting and overseeing change management as it relates to product design changes driven by product/quality improvement, supply changes, regulatory requirements, and cost reduction.
- Drive continuous improvement mindset by using a multitude of project management and analysis methodologies
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:- Bachelorβs degree in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
- Five (5) years of casting/release liner development experience in one or more of the following areas: New Product Development, New Technology Development, Product Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, Manufacturing, Product Commercialization, Applied Research, and/or Research in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Specialized Expertise: Expertise in liner development including base papers, release additives, and polymer compositions. Experience in optimization of casting liners to achieve targeted product finish and release liner optimization for targeted adhesives.
- Technical Skills: Experience in web handling, coating, embossing, polymer processing (film/co-extrusion), radiation (UV) curing, weathering, optics, adhesives, mechanical testing, microscopy, and/or films.
- Advanced Education: Possess expertise equivalent to that which would be obtained in a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Macromolecular Science, or a related discipline.
- Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and support product/technology development teams to deliver results.
- Organizational Skills: Well-organized with strong problem-solving skills and a team-building mentality; results-driven.
- Flexibility: Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
