Role Summary

• Ikeja Electric is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Meter Installer to join our Shomolu Business Unit.
• This role involves the installation, testing, maintenance, and replacement of electricity meters for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
• The ideal candidate will ensure accurate metering, uphold safety standards, and deliver excellent customer service during field operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, connect, and commission utility meters in line with company and regulatory standards
• Replace faulty or outdated meters and record serial numbers and readings accurately
• Inspect and test meters to verify functionality and detect tampering
• Conduct site assessments to determine installation requirements
• Maintain detailed records of installations, tests, and repairs using digital tools
• Educate customers on meter usage, safety, and billing basics
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
• Diagnose and repair meter faults or installation issues
• Support meter audit and maintenance programs

Minimum Qualifications

• OND, Technical Diploma, or Trade Test Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, or related field
• 1 – 3 years of experience in utility meter installation or electrical fieldwork

Technical Competencies:

• Electrical/Mechanical installation skills for single-phase and three-phase systems
• Meter testing, calibration, and fault detection
• Technical troubleshooting and repair
• Knowledge of safety standards, PPE use, and risk assessment
• Proficiency with hand tools, mustimeters, and installation devices
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals
• Accurate data recording and digital reporting
• Basic ICT skills and mobile device operation
• Site assessment for compliance and safety
• Preventive and corrective maintenance practices
