Job Summary
- We are seeking a State Cross-Border Coordination Consultant to lead efforts aimed at halting poliovirus transmission across Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad.
- The consultant will provide technical assistance to state health agencies, facilitate cross-border collaborations, and enhance the quality of immunization campaigns and routine interventions, especially in high-risk border settlements.
Key Responsibilities
Mapping Stakeholders and Border Populations:
- Identify and map stakeholders, health facilities, cross-border points, and special populations.
- Conduct primary data collection and analysis on cross-border activities.
- Co-develop targeted solutions with stakeholders to ensure comprehensive coverage of underserved populations.
Planning and Coordinating Health Interventions:
- Act as the focal point for cross-border health initiatives in the state.
- Establish and strengthen cross-border coordination committees.
- Support the development of risk assessments, microplans, and context-specific intervention strategies.
- Monitor health intervention preparedness and implementation through tools like dashboards and checklists.
Implementing Synchronized Health Interventions:
- Supervise vaccination campaigns and routine immunization sessions in collaboration with local health teams.
- Train vaccination teams on real-time data collection and gap identification.
- Participate in campaign evaluations and implement quality improvement plans.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Conduct periodic reviews to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Promote standardized tools for data collection and reporting in border areas.
- Provide weekly updates to the State Manager and Project Manager.
- Maintain proper documentation of all health intervention activities.
Leadership and Capacity Building:
- Manage and mentor LGA consultants, providing feedback and on-the-job training.
- Review deliverables and administrative tasks, such as timesheets and expense requests.
- Address challenges through problem-solving sessions with team members.
Qualifications
- Education:Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience:5–10 years in Primary Health Care, polio eradication, or routine immunization programs.
- Language Proficiency:Fluency in Hausa or any border-region language; knowledge of French is an advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
- Experience with digital data collection tools like KoboToolbox and ODK.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Other Requirements:
- Must reside in one of the listed states.
- Experience in security-compromised or challenging environments.
- Dual citizenship (Niger-Nigeria) or Niger residency is an added advantage.
