Job Summary
- The Structural Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and ensuring the integrity and safety of structures, including buildings, bridges, and infrastructure projects.
- This role involves working closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to develop cost-effective and durable structural solutions that comply with regulatory standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural Design & Analysis: Develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective structural designs using engineering principles and industry standards.
- Project Assessment: Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and site investigations to determine project requirements.
- Material Selection: Recommend appropriate construction materials and structural components based on durability, load requirements, and cost efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet local and international building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Construction Supervision: Provide technical oversight during construction to ensure structural integrity and adherence to design specifications.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Structural Calculations: Perform load calculations, stress analysis, and simulations to predict structural performance.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Identify structural issues, propose modifications, and provide engineering solutions as needed.
- Quality Control & Inspections: Conduct site inspections to monitor project progress, address construction challenges, and verify compliance with design requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelorโs or Masterโs Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (if required by jurisdiction).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in structural design and analysis.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, and Revit.
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics, materials science, and geotechnical engineering.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, ACI, AISC, BS).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
