Role Overview

  • Under the supervision of the HOD Judicial Certified Translations & Interpretation, the incumbent shall perform all assigned translation work for the Court from English or Portuguese into French.

Role and Responsibilitie

  • Perform translation services as assigned by the supervisor or other members of the Court.
  • Provide translation in relevant language combinations (English /Portuguese) into French.
  • Translate routinely assigned translation of official documents for judges and staff members as required.
  • Assists the Head of Languages Services, as appropriate, in screening, training, and examinations for prospective translators.
  • Participates in the establishment of terminology database, compilation of glossaries etc.
  • Assists in the supervision of trainee translators.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Academic Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree(or equivalent) in Translation or equivalent from a university from a recognized university;

Experience:

  • 7 years of experience in translation and revision (at least 2 of which should have been revision experience), and use of relevant computer software, electronic tools, and databases;
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills; highest standards of accuracy, consistency, and faithfulness to the style and nuances of the original text;
  • Familiarity with computer-assisted translation tools, machine translation tools, and on-screen editing tools.
  • Use of relevant computer software, electronic tools and databases.
  • Language combination: French A, English B (Knowledge in Portuguese C will be an added advantage)

Annual Basic Salary
USD 44,965.64 / USD 52,379.70
